Joseph G. Sconzo retired from the Federal Bureau of Investigation after a decorated 25 year career as a Special Agent in which he was stationed in Quantico, Virginia, Phoenix, Arizona, New York City and West Palm Beach, Florida. Over the course of his career he was a member of the SWAT and Special Operations, and led teams of agents investigating matters such as the Centennial Bomber, the Unibomber, TWA Flight 800, the initial World Trade Center Bombing, the 9-11 World Trade Center Bombing, and the Organized Crime Families in NY and NJ. Mr. Sconzo has been recognized by the Port Authority of NY/NJ, State of New Jersey, United States Attorneys Offices in both New York and South Florida as well as the Palm Beach Post for his accomplishments. His investigative expertise led to countless successful prosecutions and significant monetary settlements in matters related to Healthcare Fraud, Investment Fraud and Public Corruption.
In 1985, prior to entering into the FBI Academy, Mr. Sconzo graduated from Nova University Center for the Study of Law and was admitted to the Florida Bar. The day after retiring from the FBI he teamed up with former FBI Special Agent, Stuart N. Kaplan, and together they formed the Law Offices of Kaplan & Sconzo, P.A. The firm concentrated its efforts on Federal and State Criminal matters, Personal Injury cases, Employment disputes, and was extremely successful in representing victims of law enforcement misconduct and physical abuse which resulted in serious injury. During that time period Mr. Sconzo was recognized and engaged as an expert in Counter Terrorism and National Security which resulted in the formation of Kaplan & Sconzo Global Risk Management Group, an entity specializing in risk and threat assessment. Mr. Sconzo possesses a Private Investigator License from the State of Florida.
After 7 years as a partner in Kaplan & Sconzo, P.A., Mr. Sconzo opened his own law office in Jupiter, Florida. His areas of practice remain the same, and he continues to combine his 25 years of investigative experience with an unmatched enthusiasm and knowledge of the law. He also continues to abide by the credo that the client always comes first.
Mr. Sconzo has been married to his beautiful wife, Theresa for the past 34 years. They are the proud parents of four fantastic sons and a beautiful daughter. Mr. Sconzo is an avid baseball, football and hockey fan. He played college baseball at Pace University in New York and competitive ice and roller hockey in both New York and New Jersey. He was involved in youth sports for over 25 years, as a coach for baseball, hockey, and girl’s volleyball, and was an umpire in Staten Island, New York, Manalapan, New Jersey and Palm Beach Gardens and Jupiter, Florida. He continues to play ice hockey in two leagues in the West Palm Beach area.
Mr. Sconzo is an active member of the Society of Former Special Agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, as well as of the Fraternal Order of Police in Tequesta, Florida. He is the President of the Sons and Daughters of Italy in Tequesta, Florida, Individually and through the Sons and Daughters of Italy, Mr. Sconzo has sponsored the Jupiter and Dwyer High School Choruses, and made generous donations to Wounded Warriors and other Veterans Programs, the American Cancer Society, and many other local and national charities and foundations. Mr. Sconzo is responsible for granting three $1,500.00 scholarships per year to worthy high school seniors from Dwyer and Jupiter High Schools.
